Two shows in Sheffield 1970?

Ron mentions another Sheffield date in 1970:

Just been browsing through your Who gig list and noticed that Sheffield University on May2nd 1970 was omitted from the 1970 list. The band played the University on Western Bank twice that year, I saw them on both occasions and remember Pete remarking on the second one on October 24th how familiar the venue was becoming to them.

The second one on 24th October 1970 is listed in the Guide. Can anyone confirm the first date in may?

John E. Band show in Columbia, SC

Steve wrote:

Hello…I saw the JEB band in Columbia, SC at a venue that we hardly ever went to. It was after the 27.11.1987: Winston-Salem, NC, Baity’s Backstreets show, however I don’t remember the exact date or venue at the moment. I keep all my stubs, but I remember only getting a stamp that night unfortunately. If I can find more info from my friends I’ll pass it on as I know that’s not the exact info you need.

Any info is welcome.

St. Louis in 1969

Got a question about St. Louis dates in 1969. Does anyone know them?

I noticed that you are missing early St. Louis dates. I saw them at Kiel Opera House with Herman’s Hermits in 67 and I believe my husband saw them do Tommy in 69.

7th feb. 1969 Top Rank Suite, Bristol

A visitor of the Guide sent this mail:

I found a photo of a paper from Track international, stating Who concert dates on feb. 1969.
This date is missing from the guide: 7th feb. 1969 Top Rank suite, Bristol (Bath university)

Here’s a link to the photo, go down to 1969: www.thewho.net/whostory/feb.html

Joe McMichael and “Irish” Jack Lyons don’t have the show in their Concert Files.

Entwistle:3.8.1998, Teton Village, Wy, Mangy Moose

In the Guide I have an Entwistle show dated 3.8.1998, Teton Village, Wy, Mangy Moose. Now I got an E-Mail, saying, John played Wednesday August 3rd 1998 @ 86 Street Music Hall, Vancouver.

What is correct???

New version 6 is online

Hope you like it.

Today I changed the data structure a little, nothing important, but it makes updating the Guide easier for me.

Added a few new features, e.g. a tourcalendar for the current world tour. Don’t forget to check www.thewhotour.com, too.

Ready to go…

After returning from my holidays, I began working again on the new Concert Guide. I’ve done a lot of programming and testing, and version 6.0 will be relaunched very soon. I added some more features to the support acts, a new navigation to the homepage lots more.

I have a lot of data-update to do. As I wrote a few weeks ago, I changed the song2concert-structure. The problem: When using the song-detail-feature and looking for concerts that feature the song, you don’t get all shows listed (e.g. because of different spellings). Only a few shows use this new structure, but I’m changing it step by step. Most from 2006 is done…

I added a lot of data-updates. Tonight we have:

  • Shows: 1641
    • The Who: 1258
    • Roger Daltrey: 114
    • John Entwistle: 211
    • Pete Townshend: 58
  • Venues: 1020
  • Reviews: 297
  • Fanreports: 267
  • Pictures: 481
  • Records: 501

I began to improve my CMS, too. I will keep you informed.

If you have any more ideas to make the Concert Guide better, then please use this blog to write them down or send an E-Mail to info@thewholive.de.

New search Engine

I have added the Google-Search Engine to the new Guide using the nw Google co-op. The results will be displayed with some Google ads, but I think this ok, because it’s a powerful search engine helping to find everything you want to find.

The old Concert Guide 5.1 SQL-search engine is still online. You can use it, too, to search especially the fanreports, the newspaper-reviews and the songs.

Song-table changed / RSS

I worked a lot the last days. I have changed the database structure of the songs and had to rework the CMS to insert the data. All is wokring fine now, and now I can add covers to the original albums. And I can sort official live-records like Live at Leeds to the shows.

Tonight I began working programmierung the RSS-Feed. It’s nearly finished. Every night at 0.15 am a cronjob starts and updates the shows of the day. This is the first RSS I woffer, perhaps some more will follow. I will post the URL for adding the Feed to your site very soon. I decided to use RSS version 0.91, because it works on most systems.

Adding states

Carrie asked for a new feature: adding the states. Many times the Who play near a city, but the city is different. It would be great to search a whole state, she wrote.

I decided to add this feature and will add a new field to the city-table.
