The Who in Wolverhampton 1966

There’s an unknow date of The Who in Wolverhampton in 1966. It’s not listed in the Gigographie at thewho.com, but there’s an newspaper add that the band played in Wolverhampton on a Monday night:

The Who’s first appearance in Wolverhampton on Monday was an absolute gas. When I reviewed their L.P. some time ago I said they were paving the way to a new and exciting sound. Now they have obviously run a motorway over the paving. It was staggering to consider what they could do with two electric guitars and then compare it with what groups like The Shadows turn out. Keith Moon’s drumming is more like an explosion than an accompaniment“ so much so that a youth was carrying out running repairs to his kit halfway through.

You can find the article here: http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/6130-hobbstweedle/page__st__260 (scroll down to post #271).

Does anybody remember the exact date? Any help is welcome.

Opening band 1969

Greg about The Who’s show on May 19th 1969.

In your info account you say the opening act was Milkwood. Yet in the poster the name Kensington Market is very clear. Kensington Market was the name of a local Toronto rock band popular in the late 1960’s. KM is also a particular area in Toronto so that’s maybe where the confusion has occured.

Any info is welcome.

The Who in the “Birdcage” 1967/1968

Paul Hocking  saw The Who in 1967 or 1968. He writes:

I went to a Who concert in the “Birdcage” Portsmouth, UK. after the dates that you have for 1965 and 66. I cannot remember the exact date but as I had not met my future wife until a St Valentine’s Day party on 14th February 1967, the date of the Birdcage concert we attended therefore must have been after this date.

Can anyone confirm this date?

19th November 1967: Henry T’s bar in Topeka KS

Got this E-Mail from Randy White about a concert in 1967.

Met a barmaid in Henry T’s bar in Topeka KS who said her mother was there. It was only 42 years ago, her mother said they set the stage on fire.

The Concert Guide lists this date as Shawnee Mission South, high school, Overland Park, Kansas.

John Solo 1996

Laureen talks about a missing Entwistle show:

In 1996, there was a show between the LA HOB on March 5th and the Buffalo Rose in Denver (actually Golden) on March 9th. I’m pretty sure it was in Arizona, most likely on the 7th. I’m 100% sure there was another show, but I skipped it on my way home from CA to CO, so I don’t have the details.
Thank you so much for your fabulous site.

Any infos?
